Hawaii health officials Thursday reported 1,068 new cases of COVID-19 and four additional coronavirus-related deaths across the state.
The Big Island added 169 new COVID case, pushing the island’s total case count to 7,867, and one new death, increasing the death toll to 60.
With the new cases across the state Thursday, Hawaii has now reported 65,025 cases of COVID-19 since late February 2020, according to the Department of Health.
According to the DOH, 11,225 new cases have been reported in Hawaii in the past 14 days, including 1,862 on the Big Island. There has been an average of 881.6 new cases the past seven days statewide with the Big Island averaging 130.1 cases per day.
Hawaii County Thursday had a seven-day test positivity rate of 8.7%, still above the state’s 7.7% positivity rate.
On Thursday, 66 people with COVID-19 were hospitalized on the Big Island. None of the island’s 24 ICU beds were available with 16 of the beds occupied by COVID-positive patients. Eleven of those 16 COVID patients are on ventilators.
Four new coronavirus-related deaths were reported Thurdsay, two on Oahu and one each on the Big Island and Maui. Of the 606 deaths confirmed and reported by the state to date, 466 were on Oahu, 73 were in Maui County, 60 were on the Big Island and three on Kauai. Four deaths were among residents outside the state.
